Recruitment at Milton Junior School

We now operate an Open Recruitment Policy at Milton Junior School. This means that if you meet our essential criteria, we invite you to apply for a teaching position at any time of year.

We have compiled some guidance on what we expect to see in your CV and cover letter.

Make sure you read our advert in detail as we only accept applications that meet our essential criteria.

Guidance for Applicants

Please note that previous applicants need not apply at this stage.

We require a full CV, cover letter and copies of educational qualifications with each application.

If you are invited to interview, you will need to bring original documents with you.

If you do not have the correct documentation, please do not apply.

What we expect to see in your cover letter

This is your opportunity to tell us why you want to work at Milton Junior School and why you believe you are the right person to join our team. Whilst it is always a good idea to do some research on the internet, we ask you not to cut and paste from cover letters on Google sites - it is very obvious and will likely mean your application is rejected.

We want to know about you, about your skills and attributes, about your interests and why these will make you the right person for the job.

What to include in your CV

Your personal details should be clearly written at the top of your CV - Name, Date of Birth, Nationality, Contact details. Please include an email and a telephone number.

Next you should have a Personal Statement - this should be key facts about you that make us want to read the rest of your CV.

Professional Qualifications - include all teaching qualifications. You must attach copies of your qualifications to your CV.

Professional Experience - Include all qualified teaching experience starting with your most recent post. Please include your reason for leaving each post.

Other Experience and Qualifications - include any other noteworthy employment periods and/or professional qualifications.

Please explain any gaps in your employment history.

Be prepared to provide references when requested.

Please note - your CV should be written in English and be free from spelling and grammatical errors. You must do a spell-check as an absolute minimum or your CV will be immediately rejected.

Remember, we are an English-speaking school and we expect the highest standards of written and spoken English from our teaching staff.
